Company Details
Arev was founded in 1996. Its shareholders are Vigfús Guðbrandsson og Co ehf. (0.1%) and Jón Scheving Thorsteinsson (99.9%). In 2006, Arev verðbréfafyrirtæki hf. received an operating license from the Financial Supervisory Authority (FME) as a securities firm under Act No. 161/2002 on Financial Undertakings.
Arev’s license covers transactions and services relating to financial instruments, including the receipt and transmission of client orders for financial instruments (in connection with asset management) and asset management itself, as well as advising companies on capital structure, strategy and related matters, and advisory and services relating to company mergers and acquisitions.

JÓN SCHEVING THORSTEINSSON
Jón holds a Master’s degree in Operations Research from Stanford University. He worked as production manager and later sales and marketing manager at Sól until 1996. Jón founded Arev in 1996 to provide corporate advisory services. He later joined Hagkaup and subsequently Baugur, where he led the company’s international investments until 2003. In 2004 he founded Arev Ltd. in the United Kingdom, while Arev continued to operate in Iceland as well. Arev verðbréfafyrirtæki received its operating license from the FME in 2006. Jón completed his securities trading qualification in 2012.

Office Manager
ÁRNI SV. MATHIESEN
From 2009 to 2016, Árni worked in corporate advisory at Arev. From 1991 to 2007 he was managing director and owner of Bedco & Mathiesen ehf. That company specialized in importing and selling nursing supplies for hospitals and healthcare institutions, as well as office and security products for companies, institutions and banks. He previously worked in the beverage industry and was marketing manager at the brewery Egill Skallagrímsson. Árni holds a Master’s degree in Law (ML) from Reykjavík University and a Cand. ocean. degree from the University of Iceland.

SÆRÓS EVA ÓSKARSDÓTTIR
Særós completed a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of St. Gallen in May 2023 and joined Arev that June. In 2016 she began studies at Boston University, graduating in May 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on finance, while also on an athletic scholarship playing for the school’s golf team. From 2018 to 2020 she worked a summer job in accounting at ERA. Before that she worked as a receptionist at Sensa from 2015 to 2016 and again in the summer of 2017. She also worked as a golf instructor at GKG alongside playing golf from 2010 to 2015. Særós completed her securities trading qualification in 2025.

ÓSKAR GARÐARSSON
Óskar joined the board of Arev verðbréfafyrirtæki in July 2016. Since 2014, Óskar has been CEO of Dögun, a fisheries company based mainly in Sauðárkrókur. The company specializes in catching and processing shrimp. From 2009 to 2013 he worked at SJ1 ehf as head of department and later CEO. SJ1 handled asset management and advisory services for related parties. Óskar worked as an investment manager at Milestone from 2006 to 2009. Óskar was CFO and later one of the two CEOs of Eskja hf from 2001 to 2006. Óskar has served on the boards of various companies in connection with his work over the years. He holds a BSc degree from Lancaster University (1992) and a postgraduate certificate in business studies from Warwick University (2007).

GUNNAR INGIMUNDARSON
Gunnar joined the board of Arev verðbréfafyrirtæki in July 2016. Gunnar completed a Cand. Oecon degree from the University of Iceland in 1981. He worked at the Federation of Icelandic Industries until 1986. That year, Gunnar co-founded the software company Hugur hf. and served as its CEO until 1999, when it was sold. He held management roles under the new owners and took part in various mergers from 2000 to 2007. That year he became CEO of HugarAx, the merged company of Hugur hf. and the AX software house. He held that role until 2009. He then became part of the management team of Skýrr hf (later Advania) and worked there until 2016. He now serves as advisory director at LS Retail – a software provider for the retail sector operating worldwide.

Davíð Gunnarsson
Davíð served as an alternate board member of Arev verðbréfafyrirtæki from 2023 before joining the board in 2026. Davíð studied computer science, economics and finance at the University of Iceland and the University of Iowa. He worked at Kaupþing bank from 2005 to 2008 in the analysis department, proprietary trading and investor relations. Davíð joined Dohop ehf. in 2009 as sales and marketing director and became business development director in 2013. He now serves as CEO of Dohop and has led the company since 2015. Davíð also sits on the board of Solid Clouds hf. and was chairman of the Icelandic Student Services Organization at the University of Iceland from 2009 to 2017.
