The Central Bureau of Statistics of Iceland publishes the harmonised consumer price index for August on Tuesday 20 September. Twelve-month inflation was 6.4% in July. Veritabus believes that there have been only marginal price changes between months, as shown in the accompanying table:
This means that twelve-month inflation falls from 6.4% to 5.9%. This can be seen in the table below:
It is interesting to compare the changes in the Consumer Price Index with the changes in the Harmonised Index. The main difference between the indices is that the harmonised index does not take into account changes in the cost of own accommodation. Below you can see how the 12-month indices have developed:
