Veritabus forecasts 8.3% inflation in June

Summary

The Consumer Price Index has risen by 8.3% over the past twelve months, according to measurements and estimates by Veritabus. The uncertainty of the measurement is 0.3 percentage points, arising from inaccuracies in the measurement of its underlying components. The increase is driven by rises in rent and imputed rent, food, and fuel.

Sub-indices of the index

Veritabus forecasts the following changes in the sub-components of the index for the month-on-month and 12-month-on-year periods:

The correlation between the consumer price index and food prices has been high, partly due to a significant increase in domestic agricultural products. Housing and fuel have risen much more than most other items, partly due to a shortage of land and an increase in the global price of oil. Despite the króna's stronger exchange rate, various consumer goods, such as alcohol, clothes and shoes, furniture and household equipment, restaurants and more, have risen considerably recently.
