Subscribers get access to the AREV app, which calculates an entity's share of fishing quotas in the full system and the hook-power system. The calculator calculates the group's share in accordance with the current Fisheries Management Act on the one hand, and in accordance with the proposal for amendments to the same Act on the other. The Arev calculator is discussed further. here.
Users are allowed to choose whether they want to use the current Fisheries Management Act or a new bill for amendments to the Fisheries Management Act. They can also choose whether to view the entire system or the quota and licence system.
The calculator offers many options. It is thus possible to assume that SVN and Samherji are part of the same group, or that Brim and Útgerðafélag Reykjavíkur are part of the same group. Furthermore, any other companies can be linked. In all cases, the share is calculated.
The calculator calculates the market share of each group, i.e. the share of the total allocation. It also calculates the HHI and MHHI indices for the market. These indices are used to calculate market concentration in accordance with international standards. The calculator also does this for most fish species. In addition, the share of demersal and pelagic quotas is calculated separately. HHI and MHH are calculated for all sub-markets.
The changes to the current legislation mainly concern the definitions of related parties, and you can read more about them. here. Broadly speaking, the definitions of related parties are being aligned with those in competition law.
